Coach Luke is missing. He was last seen at Devil’s Tower in northern Wyoming prior to the start of his Year 22 season. There were also reports of mysterious lights flashing around Devil’s Tower around that time. What happened to the acclaimed coach, and where is he now?

But seriously…

I won’t really walk you through a tale of intrigue involving the whereabouts of Coach Luke. I’m just sending this out to let everyone know that I’ve had to take a break from the series.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive e-mails from readers asking what was going on. Honestly, it’s hard for me to grasp who is reading this and who is connecting with this series unless I virtually see you in the comments here or in my e-mails. There’s a core group of folks I interact with from the Twitch series that is connected to this newsletter, but the concept of who reads this newsletter is often a mystery to me.

For that reason, it’s been nice to hear from folks that said they miss the series and want to know what is happening.

So, what’s up with the series?

I hit a peak time of my year as far as projects and workload. For the past twelve years, I have independently run a fantasy baseball site that offers cheatsheets and draft advice for fantasy baseball players. It’s moderately successful and usually takes over my life in the months of February and March of each year. The amount of work I needed to do this year for that site blindsided me a bit. I just wasn’t as prepared as usual because I too busy having fun with this series.

In addition to that, I am also finishing graduate school for documentary filmmaking and am in the process of defending my thesis for that. The thesis defense process has meant a lot of important and time-sensitive work needs to get done that I had been putting off too, as I was having fun with the Cowboys and Zips here.

There are other things that are just part of my usual life beyond that but those are the two things that are peaking right now and have taken me away from being able to work on this series. Once those things are cleared from my plate, I will return to simulated football storytelling here.

When will the series return?

I don’t have an exact date yet but I’ll be back in April at some point.

That’s all for now! I just wanted to give a quick update to the readers here. I had let people on our Discord know that I was taking a break but I hadn’t posted about it here.

If you like this series and have missed it and I haven’t heard from you before then I’d really love to hear from you either via e-mail or in the comments. Since I’m in such a busy time-crunch at the moment, I may not be able to get back to everyone quickly but still, reach out anyway. It really helps to know that this series actually means something to people, so I love hearing from you all for that reason.

Completely understand the break! Hopefully things slow down soon!

Just FYI, I always got super excited when I saw a new-post notification in my inbox, so can't wait for the return of CL and the boys! :)
